The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About PDF Dark Mode — Night Reader for PDFs
Reading PDFs at night shouldn't burn your eyes.
Chrome's built-in viewer has no night theme. This extension adds one, one click away:
🌙 THREE THEMES
• Soft: gentle grays, easiest on images
• True Black: maximum contrast for OLED
• Sepia Night: warm tint for long reading sessions
🎚 FINE-TUNE
Brightness and contrast sliders, so every document looks right.
🌑 THE WHOLE VIEWER, NOT JUST THE PAGE
The gray area between and beside the pages no longer flips to light gray, and Chrome's toolbar keeps its own look. Prefer the old style? Untick "Dark background around pages" in the popup.
⚡ AUTO MODE (optional)
Flip one switch and every file you open is inverted automatically.
🔒 PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account. No tracking. No network requests. Everything happens locally in your browser, so we couldn't see your documents even if we wanted to.
✅ BUILT FOR TODAY'S CHROME
Chrome recently rebuilt its viewer, which silently broke older extensions of this kind (check their reviews). This one is built and tested against the current version.
Works on: online PDFs, local files (enable "Allow access to file URLs"; the popup links you straight to that switch), and PDFs embedded in web pages.
Tip: click the extension icon on any PDF tab to toggle.
