About Pawse – Cute Website Blocker
Pawse is a website blocker for Chrome. Block distracting websites with a right-click, limit your time on them, and choose how hard it is to unblock each one. It's also cute: a cat guards your block page. 🐾
Staying focused is hard when websites are built to keep you scrolling. A quick check of YouTube or Instagram turns into an hour, and willpower alone rarely wins. Pawse puts a short pause between you and the sites that eat your time, so you stop opening them on autopilot and get your time and focus back. Strict blockers feel like a punishment and get switched off after a week. Pawse is kind, so you keep it on.
HOW IT WORKS
Right-click any page and choose "Block this website". Next time you open that site, you see the Pawse block page instead: "Is this what you meant to do?" Most of the time, that short pause is all it takes to close the tab.
YOU PICK HOW HARD IT IS TO GET BACK IN
• One click: a gentle speed bump
• Breathe: take a few slow breaths with the cat first
• Wait: a countdown before you can go in (optionally longer every time)
• Type a phrase: type a sentence like "I choose to spend my time on this"
• Say why: write down why you really need it (Pro)
• Hard lock: no way in for hours or days (Pro)
BLOCK ONLY THE ADDICTIVE PART
Block YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels or the Reddit front page with one tap, and keep the useful rest of the site. Or pick any part of a site from the popup, like one subreddit or one section of a news site.
ALLOWANCES INSTEAD OF ALL-OR-NOTHING (Pro)
"30 minutes of YouTube a day" or "5 visits to Reddit a week". Time only counts while the site is on screen or playing audio. When it's used up, the paw comes down.
SCHEDULES AND FOCUS SESSIONS (Pro)
• Quiet hours: block a site only at set times, like evenings or work hours
• Happy hour: allow a site only for a set window, like one hour each evening
• One tap locks your list for 25, 50 or 90 minutes
• Pomodoro: four 25-minute rounds with 5-minute breaks. The lock lifts for each break and comes back by itself
• Or block the whole web except the few sites you need
SMALL THINGS THAT HELP
• "I've saved you from distractions 12 times in the last 7 days" 🎉
• Unlock history to spot your patterns (Pro)
• Share your week with a cute card
• Works in incognito too, if you allow it
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your block list and the sites you visit never leave your browser. No account, no ads. Pawse only sends anonymous usage counts (like how many sites you block, never which ones), and you can switch that off in Settings.
FREE AND PRO
Free plan: up to 5 blocked sites, right-click blocking, One click, Breathe, Wait and Type-a-phrase, presets and weekly stats, with no time limit and no account.
Pro: unlimited sites, allowances, quiet hours and happy hours, focus sessions and Pomodoro, Say why, Hard lock and unlock history. Monthly or yearly, cancel anytime. New users get 50% off during their first 24 hours.
Pawse is a speed bump, not a prison: it gives you a moment to choose, and the cat does the rest.
