About Pathnote
Pathnote turns what you do in the browser into a clear, step-by-step guide, without writing anything or taking screenshots by hand.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Create your free Pathnote account with your email (it takes a minute; you only do this once).
2. Open the website you want to document and click the Pathnote icon. A side panel opens next to the page.
3. Click Start recording and do the task as usual. Every click, entry, and selection appears in the panel as a numbered step with a screenshot, even when the task opens new tabs.
4. Click Done. Your guide opens in the editor.
EDIT YOUR GUIDE
• Rename steps, even while you are still recording
• Move or resize the highlight on each screenshot
• Add arrows and text notes on screenshots
• Blur names, addresses, and other sensitive details
• Crop screenshots to what matters
• Group steps under section headings; reorder, duplicate, or delete steps
GUIDE ME
• Play a guide on the live website: Pathnote points at each element in turn, and Next does the step for you
• When you finish, download it as a PDF or PowerPoint with a step bubble on every screenshot
SHARE IT
• Download as a Word document (.docx), PDF, or Markdown
• Highlights, blur, crops, arrows, and notes are applied to the exported images
• Add your organization's logo, name, and brand colour to downloads
STAY ORGANIZED
• All your guides in My Library, with search and Favourites
• Select several guides to star or move to Trash at once; restore from Trash within 30 days
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Your free account holds only your name, email, and the profile details you choose to add
• Guides and screenshots are stored only in your browser and never uploaded
• No analytics or tracking
• Pathnote only runs on the tabs of a recording you started (including tabs your task opens) or a guide you play with Guide me
• Passwords, payment cards, one-time codes, and ID numbers are never recorded
• Password fields are blurred in screenshots automatically
Great for training material, support articles, onboarding guides, QA bug reports, and documenting internal processes.
