Passata — Pomodoro Timer & Focus New Tab

Passata turns your Chrome new tab into a minimalist Pomodoro focus timer. Open a new tab and your timer is already there — a clean countdown, dark mode by default, and nothing else competing for your attention. No to-do lists, no site blocker, no growing tree, no search box. Just focus. Passata is built around one idea: the timer has to be correct. The countdown is a saved timestamp, not a ticking loop, so it survives a suspended background worker, a closed laptop, and a changed clock — the exact bug that makes other pomodoro extensions drift, freeze, or die. Every tab you open recomputes the time from the same source of truth, so the count you see is always the real one. Coming from Marinara? Passata is a clean, free, actively maintained home for your focus routine. ★ WHAT YOU GET • Focus, short break and long break — with a long break every 4th session • Presets for 25/5, 50/10 and 90/15, or set your own durations • A soft completion chime with a volume slider and a test button • A daily session counter — a number, not a dashboard • Space bar to start and pause, right on the new tab • Dark mode that follows your system; light mode when you want it • A shareable focus card to post your best sessions ★ PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no sign-in, no subscription — free • No analytics or tracking in the extension; your session counts stay in your browser • Works offline • A small, load-bearing permission set: alarms and storage run the timer, notifications and a background audio document play the completion chime, and the new-tab override is the timer itself. No access to your browsing history, your open tabs, or the sites you visit. The new tab is opt-in. Passata asks once, with a real "No" button, and a settings toggle reverses your choice any time.
