The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Palette Grab
Palette Grab pulls the real color palette out of whatever is on your screen.
Click the icon and it reads the visible part of the current tab, quantizes it,
and hands you the dominant colors with their hex, RGB and HSL values — plus how
much of the screen each one actually covers.
WHAT MAKES THE COLORS RIGHT
Most color pickers count pixels and hand back mud. A photograph contains
thousands of near-identical values, so "most common RGB" returns six versions
of the same grey. Palette Grab runs a median-cut quantizer instead: it
subdivides color space rather than counting values, so every color it returns
represents a genuinely distinct region of the image. Gradients, photography and
video frames all come back with a usable palette.
WHAT YOU GET
• 3 to 10 colors, adjustable live — no re-capture needed
• Hex, RGB, HSL and dominance share for every color
• A toggle to skip near-white, near-black and grey, which otherwise dominate
any screenshot and are rarely what you came for
• Click any swatch to copy its hex; the label stays readable because the text
color is contrast-checked against the swatch itself
• Recapture after scrolling to sample a different part of the page
EXPORTS
• Hex — a plain list
• CSS — a :root block of custom properties, numbered or named by hue
(--color-blue, --color-sand)
• Tailwind — a valid tailwind.config.js theme.extend.colors object
• JSON — an array with hex, rgb, hsl and share
• SVG — a proportional palette strip you can drop into Figma or a README
WORKS ON REAL PAGES
Palette Grab reads a capture of the tab, not the page's image elements. That
matters: pulling a cross-origin image into a canvas taints it and reading the
pixels back throws a security error, which is why so many color-picker
extensions quietly fail on the sites you actually want to sample. This approach
works on any normal page, including cross-origin photography, embedded video
frames and canvas.
