About Palabra: Practice Vocabulary While Reading
Palabra is a language learning extension for people who read in another language. Select a word on any website to translate it instantly, save it to your personal vocabulary, and learn it by writing your own sentences with AI feedback. A vocabulary builder that helps you actually use a word, not just recognize it.
New words turn into words you can actually use.
Most vocabulary tools test recognition: "What does this word mean?" But recognizing a word isn't the same as being able to use it. You might know what "ubiquitous" means, but can you drop it into a sentence when you need it?
Palabra is different. We test production: can you actually deploy this word?
How it works:
1. Capture - Save words while reading. Select any word on any website and get an instant translation.
2. Practice - When you're ready, Palabra gives you a creative prompt: "Tell me a lie using 'właściwie'" or "Complain about your morning using 'ledwo'." Write a sentence. No multiple choice. No flashcard flipping.
3. Get feedback - AI evaluates your sentence in seconds. Not a grade, just quick, helpful notes: what worked, what to tweak, and a natural-sounding version.
4. See real progress - Words move from Saved to Attempted to Active. Your dashboard shows one number that matters: "Words you can actually use."
Why Palabra?
- No word graveyard. We don't guilt you with "347 overdue cards."
- No busywork. Creative prompts, not textbook drills.
- No complexity. No deck setup, no card templates.
- Cloud sync keeps your vocabulary across devices.
Great for sentence mining from web articles: capture words with their real context as you read, no subtitles or video setup needed.
For serious self-learners who read articles, watch videos, or take lessons in another language and actually want to remember what they learn.
Works with 20+ European languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and also Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian — plus Armenian and Belarusian in beta.
Free to start.
Fully free while in Beta: no payment information is required, and there is no paid subscription while in pre-release.
