The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.

About PagePatch - HTML File Editor

Edit local HTML files visually — no separate editor, no uploads. PagePatch turns any file:// HTML page open in Chrome into an editable document. Flip on edit mode, change the page directly in the browser with a floating toolbar, and save your work through Chrome's Save As dialog — overwrite the original or keep a copy. Everything happens locally on your machine. Format text inline Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, inline code, headings (H1–H6), bulleted and numbered lists, indent/outdent, alignment, text and highlight colors, font family and size, links, images (upload, drag-and-drop, or paste), and horizontal rules. Plus style presets — callouts, cards, button links — and an inline icon picker. Edit tables A dedicated table panel: insert a table with the rows and columns you want, add or delete rows and columns from the current cell, merge or split cells, paint cell backgrounds, and align text — with headers kept intact. Style any element Click any block to select it, then resize or drag to move it and adjust size, padding, margin, fill and border, opacity, shadows, filters, transforms, and custom CSS. Apply animation presets that keep working after you save. Delete elements with a click or the Delete key. Build and export slide decks Full Reveal.js support: add, duplicate, delete, and reorder slides from the Slides panel, edit them in place, and export to PDF — either Chrome's print layout or pixel-accurate slide-by-slide screenshots. Work faster Undo/redo for every change (including tables, elements, and Find & Replace), a Find & Replace panel with live highlighting and match navigation, a collapsible toolbar with light/dark themes, and automatic draft recovery. Private by design PagePatch runs entirely on your device. It makes no network calls, sends nothing anywhere, and asks only for the permissions it needs to read and save the local file you're editing. Free. All of it. ___________________________________________ PagePatch 1.3 — framework-aware editing PagePatch now reads the file on disk and compares it against what's on screen, so content a script generated stays out of your saves. Pages that are nothing but a script and an empty shell are refused with a plain reason instead of quietly corrupted. Four new interactive starter templates — checklist, tabbed handbook, sortable table, image gallery — carry their own code inside the file, no CDN. Every dropdown in the toolbar and popup is now one component, walkable with the arrow keys. _______________________________________________ PagePatch 1.5: Draw mode and a redesigned popup DRAW MODE Mark up a page without editing it: highlight a passage, sketch the box a diagram is missing, cross out what's out of date, or leave a sticky note. • Tools: rectangle, diamond, ellipse, arrow (straight, curved or elbow), line, freehand pen, text, sticky note and eraser, all in a hand-drawn style. • Styling: stroke and background colors, fill, width, stroke style, sloppiness, edges, arrowheads, font, size, alignment, opacity and layer order. • Drawings stay with the content. Each shape is pinned to the element under it, so it follows the page when the window width changes or you edit the text above it. A shape drawn on a tab panel shows only when that tab is open. • Saved into the file. Anyone who opens the file sees your drawings, with or without PagePatch. Drafts, version history and standalone exports keep them too. To remove them, choose Clear all and then Save. • Export PDF (with drawings) captures the page screen by screen with your marks on top. • Hold Space to click through to the page while drawing. • Not yet available on Reveal.js slide decks. REDESIGNED POPUP • The popup now matches the in-page toolbar's look, in light and dark themes. • One View / Edit / Draw switch replaces the two separate toggles. • The file name now shows its folder and status: Read-only, No changes or Unsaved changes. • New page, Versions and Help sit in the footer. The theme button is in the header. • The Draw toolbar is more compact, and its colors come from the same color picker as the Edit toolbar. CLEARER MESSAGES • Banners explain the page's situation, one at a time: file access is off, the editor couldn't start, it's one of Chrome's own pages, a draft was recovered, and so on. • A status strip shows saves and exports as they happen. Errors stay on screen until you close them and offer Try again or Reload page where that helps. • Errors in plain words. For example, "Couldn't write the file: the disk is full." instead of "Download failed: FILE_NO_SPACE". • Cmd+S / Ctrl+S now saves in Edit mode. It used to open Chrome's "Save page as". PRIVACY Draw mode includes rough.js (MIT) and the Excalifont font (SIL OFL 1.1) inside the extension. Nothing loads from the network. __________________________________________ Every feature listed above is free, and stays free. There is no paid tier, no trial that expires, no feature locked behind an upgrade prompt, no account to create, and no subscription. PagePatch does not collect or sell your data, because it does not have any of it — nothing you edit ever leaves your computer. I build and maintain PagePatch on my own time. If it saved you an afternoon of fighting with an HTML file, you are welcome to tip the price of a coffee — it is entirely optional, and it changes nothing about what the extension does. Open the popup and click "Like what I'm doing?"
