The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Outwait
Make a little more room for what you want to see.
Outwait helps reduce unwanted adult content while you browse. It filters supported public posts on Reddit, X and Instagram, and blocks known adult websites using a bundled domain list.
Choose the protection that works for you:
• Light hides posts with recognized sensitive-content labels and other explicit signals.
• Normal adds on-device image analysis and limited sampling of readable video frames.
• Hard covers photos and videos in supported posts, including ordinary content, until you choose to reveal them.
Outwait keeps the original space of a hidden post and follows the page's light or dark appearance. A short confirmation gives you time before revealing filtered content. You can also hide a supported post manually or save a local account rule.
Protection starts enabled on a fresh installation. Supported Reddit and X controls that allow sensitive content are switched off while protection is active. Known sites remain blocked if you decline optional all-site access. With that access, a blocked site opens the local Outwait page with a way to leave, a short pause and feed-care tips. You can adjust or disable protection in settings; reducing it requires a confirmation. Chrome's own disable and uninstall controls remain available.
Your protection summary shows approximate weekly counts, stored in this browser. Counting can be turned off, and counts and personal rules can be deleted. This is not a browsing-history viewer or a score of personal progress.
Image classification runs on your device with the model included in the extension. Outwait does not upload your browsing content to a remote classifier or send protection counts to its servers. It may request an already-visible image from the platform's media server to read its pixels. No extension analytics.
The bundled guide explains how to use each platform's own recommendation controls. Outwait's local hide choices do not train Instagram, X or Reddit's algorithms.
Important limits: filtering can miss content or hide something by mistake. Video sampling does not inspect every frame. This extension protects supported websites in desktop Chrome, not native mobile apps. Incognito requires you to enable Chrome's “Allow in Incognito” setting manually. Outwait is not tamper-proof, a clinical treatment or a guarantee that all adult content will be blocked.
Talk to Outwait introduces the upcoming iPhone app. An optional “Remind me here” choice saves one boolean in this browser. After a future launch update, opening the popup can show how to get the app once. No email, proactive notification or signup is involved.
