About OTNow
OTNow helps Ontario Tech students keep track of Canvas coursework without repeatedly opening every course.
The extension opens beside Canvas in Chrome’s side panel and brings upcoming assignments, quizzes, discussions, events, and planner notes into one organized view. Students can filter items by course or type, group them by due date, and open coursework directly in Canvas.
Features include:
• Upcoming Canvas deadlines in one side panel
• Filters for courses and coursework types
• Direct links to course modules, files, grades, quizzes, and discussions
• Configurable deadline reminders
• Detection of changed Canvas due dates
• Support for approved assignment extensions
• Submitted, graded, and locally completed item tracking
• Offline access to the most recently synchronized information
• Private activity insights stored on the device
• Optional anonymous community statistics
OTNow includes light, dark, and system appearances, including a dark interface for students who use a browser’s forced dark mode or a separate dark-mode extension.
OTNow uses the Ontario Tech Canvas session already open in Chrome. It never asks for or stores a Canvas password. Course names, assignment titles, grades, settings, and deadline information remain in Chrome storage on the student’s device.
Anonymous statistics are optional and disabled until the student provides consent. The extension does not contain advertisements, behavioural tracking, or an OTNow account system.
OTNow is an independent, open-source student project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Ontario Tech University or Instructure.
