About Osmosis

Passively learn a language while browsing. Osmosis translates a portion of words on every page. Osmosis turns the pages you already read into a passive language-learning surface. Instead of setting aside time to study, you see a small percentage of words on every page in the language you're learning. Hover any translated word to see the original in English, hear how it's pronounced, and mark whether you already knew it. HOW IT WORKS 1. Pick a target language and a translation density (10% to 90% of eligible words). 2. Browse normally. Osmosis quietly replaces a sampling of common, learnable words with their translation. 3. Hover any translated word to see the original, its part of speech, alternative meanings, and pronunciation audio. 4. Rate whether you know the word or want to keep learning it. Over time, words move through a spaced-repetition schedule so you review them at the right intervals. FEATURES - Word and multi-word phrase translation on any webpage - Adjustable translation density — from a light sprinkle to a heavy immersion - CEFR level filtering (A1 through C2) so you only see words appropriate to your level - Hover tooltip with the original word, part of speech, alternative translations, and pronunciation audio - Built-in review quiz with fill-in-the-blank questions using the actual sentence context you encountered on the web - Daily streak tracking to keep you consistent - One-tap reporting for proper nouns or bad translations so they don't come back - Sign in with Google or email - No AI at all LANGUAGES 130+ target languages including Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, and many more. Powered by Microsoft Azure Translator. PRIVACY Osmosis translates only individual words and the sentence surrounding them — never the full page, your browsing history, or the URLs you visit. Your email is used for sign-in only. No third-party analytics, no ads. FREE AND PRO The free tier includes 50,000 translated characters per month, which is enough for casual daily reading. Pro removes the monthly limit for heavier readers and daily learners. SUPPORT Questions or feedback? Contact velvetwebdev@gmail.com
