About NoteLabs Side Notes

NoteLabs is a clean, focused notepad that lives in Chrome’s side panel, keeping your notes close without getting in the way of the page you’re viewing. Use it to capture ideas, collect research, draft messages, organize information, or keep a running set of notes while you work online. Because NoteLabs stays docked beside the main browser window, you can move between websites and your writing without constantly switching tabs or opening another application. Create as many notes as you need and find them again through a searchable library. Notes can be starred, sorted, duplicated, renamed, and displayed in either a comfortable card view or a compact list. Everything is saved automatically, so your work remains available after closing or restarting Chrome. The editor supports familiar formatting tools, including headings, font sizes, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, lists, alignment, links, quotations, and code blocks. Formatting from pasted text is preserved where possible, while unsupported or unsafe content is removed. When typing is inconvenient, use dictation to turn speech into text directly inside a note. NoteLabs can also use Chrome’s built-in writing AI model to help improve your work. Select a passage or work with the entire note, then ask NoteLabs to: • Improve clarity, flow, and wording • Correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation • Make writing shorter and more direct • Improve structure and readability • Create a concise summary • Extract actions and open questions • Build a working outline • Suggest alternative titles • Clean up a dictated transcript Suggestions are shown for review before anything changes. You can compare the proposed version with the original, edit the suggestion, copy it, save it as a separate note, accept it, or keep your original unchanged. Accepted AI changes can also be undone. Please note; NoteLabs uses Gemini Nano, Chrome’s built-in on-device language model, through the Chrome Language Model Prompt API. NoteLabs is designed around a straightforward, local-first experience: • Notes are stored locally in Chrome’s private extension storage • No NoteLabs account is required • No API key or separate AI subscription is required • No advertisements or analytics • No access to browsing history, website content, or cookies • Import and export tools provide portable library backups Chrome’s built-in writing assistance is optional and depends on device compatibility. Every standard note-taking feature remains available without it. Whether you are gathering research, planning a project, taking meeting notes, drafting content, or simply trying to remember something before moving on, NoteLabs provides a quiet writing space exactly where you need it.
