The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.

About Next tab

Next tab opens a new tab next to the page you’re on. If you use Chrome vertical tabs (tabs on the side), the new tab opens below the current tab. If tabs are on top, it opens to the right. Same place Chrome’s own “New tab below” / “New tab to the right” command uses — so related pages stay together instead of jumping to the end of the strip. That’s the whole point. Ctrl+T and the + button normally dump a blank tab at the far end. With a side strip, that new tab is nowhere near the article, ticket, or doc you were just looking at. Next tab keeps the new tab under (or beside) the one you’re on, so your place in the list doesn’t get lost. Why install Open a new tab below in vertical tabs, or to the right in horizontal tabs Use a keyboard shortcut instead of hunting through the tab menu Assign Ctrl+T yourself if you want the usual New Tab key to open next to the current tab Or keep Chrome’s default Ctrl+T and use Alt+T (you can change this) Stays inside the current tab group Tiny, no account, storage permission only for your shortcut preference How the shortcut works Chrome will not let an extension take Ctrl+T automatically — that key is reserved for New Tab. You can still give Ctrl+T to Next tab from chrome://extensions/shortcuts. The override is allowed; it just has to come from you. First launch walks you through it in three steps. Prefer to leave Ctrl+T alone? Turn that off in settings. The alternative shortcut still opens a tab below / next to the current one. Works with your tab layout Vertical tabs / tabs on the side → new tab opens below Tabs on top → new tab opens to the right Tab groups are kept After install, click the toolbar icon for settings, or open chrome://extensions/shortcuts to set your keys.
