The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Murmur
Murmur gives every video a place to talk about it: a discussion and a live chat that follow the moment you're watching, on YouTube, streaming sites, or any page with a video.
NO SPOILERS FROM PEOPLE AHEAD OF YOU
Comments pinned to a later moment stay blurred until you get there. So do comments flagged as spoilers, and replies to them. Reveal one, or all of them, whenever you like. Finished the film? Say so, and everything opens up.
DISCUSSION THAT KNOWS THE MOMENT
Pin a comment to the scene it's about, or leave a general one. Sort by top reactions, newest, or the video's timeline, with a marker for where you are. Reply, react, and pick a display name.
LIVE CHAT FOR THE SCENE YOU'RE ON
A fast chat for everyone watching the same title. Every message carries its spot in the video. "Near my scene" narrows it to people around the same moment. Messages disappear after 24 hours.
IN THE SIDE PANEL OR OVER THE VIDEO
Open Murmur in Chrome's side panel, or turn on the overlay: a glass panel over the video that you can drag, resize, fade and click through. It stays with you in fullscreen, and as a slim strip it shows a chat ticker that keeps out of the way. Alt+Shift+M shows or hides it.
FINDS WHAT YOU'RE WATCHING
Murmur recognises the film or episode from the page and matches it with TMDB, so everyone watching the same thing lands in the same room, whichever site they use. Not sure? It asks.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No sign-up, no email, no ads, no tracking. Murmur uses an anonymous account and sends nothing until you open it. Reports hide abusive comments automatically, and moderators review them.
