Your UC Merced plan, from now to graduation.
Build your next schedule, plan ahead, and see what's left for your major, minor, and GEs.
Home
- This semester's schedule as a weekly calendar
- A countdown to your next registration time
- A checklist before you register: your units, sections picked for every course, no time clashes, open seats, and no holds
- Your registration status, class standing, and program, one click away
- The CRNs of the classes you picked, ready to copy
- The courses you're watching, and whether each has open seats or waitlist room
Notifications
- When a new semester is posted on My Registration
- A day before your registration time, and again when it opens
- When a course you're watching fills up, or gets an open seat or waitlist spot
- Choose which ones you get, or turn them all off, in Settings
Find classes
- Search by class name, subject, course number, CRN, or instructor
- See open seats, waitlists, times, rooms, final exams, and prerequisites at a glance, and refresh seats any time
- Show only classes with open seats
- Add a class to a future semester, or watch it for open seats
Plan
- Every semester side by side, from AP and transfer credit and classes you've taken to future plans, with units added up
- Plan ahead for semesters whose classes haven't been posted yet
- A warning when a semester has too few or too many units, or a course comes before its prerequisites
- Click a course to see the courses it needs first, traced back through your plan
- A course and its lab stay together as one card
- Click the bell on a full course to watch it for open seats; a course and its lab are watched together
- Pick a schedule: see every possible schedule for your classes and choose one
- A course's only lecture, or a lab's lecture with no class time, is picked for you
- Click a section in any schedule to lock it, and only schedules with that section are shown
- Keep times free, like lunch, set a minimum break between classes, and sort by fewest days on campus, the most even class hours each day, and more
Schedule
- Your week, drawn from your registered or planned classes
- Your free time between classes, using the hours you choose
- When the Pavilion and the DC serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, beside your classes
- Common building names in place of codes
- Save your schedule as an image, print it, or download it as an .ics file for Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook
Degree
- Your major, minor, and GE requirements, with each course marked done, taking, planned, or not yet, and a course and its lab shown together
- See what your plan would finish and what would still be left
- Click any course to see its prerequisites, when it's offered, its sections, and add it to a semester
- Find courses that count toward several of your requirements at once
- Explore every other major and minor, see how far your courses already take you in each, and star the ones you're considering
- An unofficial roadmap worked out from the catalog: My Degree Path stays your official record
How it works
MercedTime works inside your web browser, using My Registration and, if you choose to import them, My Degree Path and your test scores from Student Profile, all with the UC Merced sign-in you already have. It never asks for your password. Class lists, open seats, and degree requirements come from MercedTime's server, which copies them from UC Merced's public pages; nothing about you is sent with those requests. Your plan and settings follow you to your other computers through Chrome sync, if you have it on, and everything else it saves stays on your computer.
MercedTime can't add or drop classes. Its "Register for classes" button, shown while your registration window is open, takes you to My Registration for that. The only thing it can change is running a new audit in My Degree Path, the same as the button there.
To show notifications, MercedTime checks UC Merced's public list of semesters every two hours while Chrome is running, and the open seats in the courses you watch: every two hours, and every ten minutes while your registration window is open. Those checks don't use your sign-in and send nothing about you. Registration reminders use the registration time MercedTime last read while you had it open.
When you open the My Registration menu, MercedTime opens instead. Its button in Chrome's toolbar opens MercedTime, or shows today's classes if you'd rather. Light and dark themes are in Settings.
