About Mei

Mei (Beta) shows what's fact, what's reporting, what's opinion, and what might be misleading, right on the page you're already reading. Browse with a second pair of eyes. Mei reads news articles, blogs, and opinion pieces, then labels each passage in place so you can see at a glance what's backed by evidence, what's someone's opinion, and what deserves a closer look. Check before you share it, believe it, or let it shape your vote. WHAT MEI DOES • Inline highlights: established facts, research findings, news reporting, unverified claims, misleading framing, false statements, and opinions are each marked right where you're reading, in the page's own layout. • Hover for the why: point at any highlight to see a plain-language explanation, including when a reported paragraph slips in the author's own opinion. • How it's told: see whether a story is mostly neutral, leans one way, or is strongly one-sided, with the exact wording behind it: charged words, a headline that oversells, only one side heard, and more. • Knows opinion from news: opinion columns are recognized as opinion pieces, so arguing a point isn't mistaken for slanted reporting. • Full report: a complete breakdown opens in a tab next to the article, one click away from any highlight. • Related Coverage: see how other outlets across the political spectrum cover the same story, each labeled with its political lean from an independent ratings table. • Help improve Mei: give any label a thumbs up or down, or take the short feedback survey. • One click: hit Analyze and Mei reads the page and marks it up, usually within a minute. No setup, no account. WHY INSTALL MEI News, opinion, and misinformation increasingly look identical: same layout, same "breaking" banner, same confident tone. Mei doesn't tell you what to think. It shows you what kind of claim you're looking at and how the story is being told, so you bring your own judgment with better information in front of you. Whether you're checking a viral post, researching before an election, or just want a reality check on your morning news, Mei gives you an instant second opinion without leaving the page. FREE TO USE Mei includes a free daily analysis limit. No signup, no credit card. If you reach the limit, you can optionally add your own Anthropic API key to keep going. It's stored only in your browser and never sent to Mei. BETA Mei is in beta. Its analysis is produced by AI and can be wrong, so treat it as a starting point rather than a final word. Feedback is welcome at privacy@meimm.ai. PRIVACY Mei only analyzes a page when you click Analyze. That page's text and address are sent to Mei's server for analysis. Mei keeps a record of each analysis (the page address, an anonymous install ID, and usage statistics) for up to 90 days to run the service. Feedback you choose to send is stored with Mei's result for that article for up to 90 days. It has no accounts, never sells data, and shows no ads. Full details: https://www.meimm.ai/privacy-policy
