The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Markdown to HTML: Paste, Preview, Export
Markdown preview & viewer. Paste Markdown, see it rendered safely
Paste any Markdown (including the contents of a .md file you've opened
elsewhere) and see a live, side-by-side Markdown preview: headings,
bold/italic, lists, links, code blocks and inline code, and blockquotes. Use
it as a fast Markdown viewer for a README, a note, or a draft, then copy the
result as clean HTML ready to paste into an email, wiki, or document. No
account, no upload, no CDN.
AT A GLANCE
✔ Live side-by-side Markdown preview, updating as you type
✔ Headings, bold/italic, ordered and unordered lists (incl. nesting), links,
fenced and inline code, and blockquotes
✔ Copy as sanitized HTML, or copy as one complete styled HTML document
✔ Two independent XSS-safety layers on every render: raw HTML never executes
✔ Paste-only (no file access, no active-tab access, storage-only permission)
✔ Light / dark / system theme
PASTE-ONLY BY DESIGN: WHAT THIS TOOL DOES NOT DO
This extension does not open, browse, or read a `.md` file from your disk.
It never requests file-system or host access at all. To preview a Markdown
file, copy its text and paste it in. That constraint is what keeps the
permission footprint at `storage` only, with no `activeTab`, no `scripting`,
and no way for the extension to ever see anything on a web page.
SAFE BY DESIGN: THE PART OTHER MARKDOWN TOOLS GET WRONG
Markdown can embed raw HTML, and a pasted document could contain a hidden
script, an image tag with an error handler, or a link using a dangerous
`javascript:` URL. This extension renders your Markdown through two
independent safety layers before anything is ever shown or copied: Markdown
is parsed with raw HTML disabled (embedded HTML is shown as harmless text,
never executed), and the resulting HTML is ALSO passed through a
well-known, industry-standard sanitizer (DOMPurify) against a strict
allowlist. Both the on-screen preview and anything you copy or export go
through the exact same safety pipeline. Remote images referenced in pasted
Markdown are never silently loaded either. Only self-contained embedded
images are shown, so nothing you paste can quietly "phone home" as you
preview it.
WHAT IT DOES (FREE)
- LIVE SIDE-BY-SIDE MARKDOWN PREVIEW: paste on the left, see the rendered
result on the right, updating as you type. It works as a fast Markdown
viewer with no app or account to set up.
- CORE MARKDOWN: headings, bold/italic, ordered and unordered lists
(including nesting), links, fenced and inline code, and blockquotes.
Fenced and inline code render as a clean, distinct monospace block.
Honestly: there is no per-language syntax color-highlighting.
- COPY AS HTML: one click copies the sanitized, rendered HTML to your
clipboard.
- COPY AS STYLED HTML: one click copies a complete, standalone HTML document
(styled to match this preview) to your clipboard, so saving it as a .html
file and opening it in a browser looks right, not like a bare fragment.
- LIGHT/DARK/SYSTEM THEME.
HOW TO USE
1. Paste Markdown into the left-hand pane.
2. Read the sanitized, live preview in the right-hand pane; it updates as
you type.
3. Copy the result as sanitized HTML, or copy it as one complete styled HTML
document; premium adds a themed HTML file export.
PERFECT FOR
Reviewing a README before you commit it, drafting a PR description, or
previewing a note before you paste it into a wiki page or an email, anywhere
you want to see rendered Markdown without opening a full editor or app.
PREMIUM ($5 one-time)
- GFM extras: tables, task-lists, and footnotes render properly in the
preview (the free tier still handles this Markdown safely, it just shows
it as plain text instead of a formatted table/checkbox/footnote).
- Themed HTML export: download a complete, standalone HTML file styled
Plain, GitHub-style, Sepia, Dark, or Match Preview (the exact look of the
in-extension preview).
- Saved documents: name and save Markdown documents locally, and reload them
instantly.
