About Mark Atlas
Find useful pages in the Chrome bookmarks you already have. Mark Atlas brings bookmark search, cleanup, and organization into one place, with no import required.
FIND MORE THAN A TITLE
Search bookmark titles, links, folders, and labels as you type. With your permission, save readable page details on this device and search descriptions, headings, and saved page text too. Results show what matched, so you can recognize the page you were looking for. Single-word searches require matching saved text, and avoid accidental fragments inside other words.
KEEP YOUR LIBRARY WITHIN REACH
Use a compact side panel while browsing, or open the full library in a browser tab for a wider view. The toolbar remembers your last compact or full view, including after restarting Chrome. Reopening the full library brings you back to the existing tab; saved links open in new tabs. Opening the full library closes the compact panel once the tab opens. On Chrome 116 and newer, Compact view switches directly to the side panel and closes the full library tab once the panel opens. Filter by folder, Topic, or Format, optionally group results by site, and choose a light or dark appearance.
CLEAN UP WITH A REVIEW FIRST
Find exact duplicate links and pages whose last saved check returned 404 or 410 by default, or use advanced rules to identify bookmarks you want to clear out. Select suggestions in Review and delete them permanently after a confirmation showing the selected count. Clean Up removes bookmarks from Chrome and clears their saved Mark Atlas data. Individual and bulk deletion also require confirmation.
PREVIEW A BETTER FOLDER STRUCTURE
Preview folders based on Topic and Format, or customize a layout yourself. Create copies is the default, keeping your originals while you review the result. Choose Move existing bookmarks to apply the complete new layout while preserving bookmark IDs, saved dates, notes and labels. Successful moves remove empty old folders; Undo restores the previous layout. Root-level links appear first, before folders, in both modes.
Smart fill suggests links using your current bookmarks bar, available bookmark last-opened dates, and save dates. Recently saved pages from different sites fill spare places when usage dates are missing. Suggested and Last opened work without access to your browsing history.
OPTIONAL JEV SEARCH AND LABELS
Connect Jev to rank search results, find related bookmarks for queries with multiple words even when the wording differs, and suggest Topic and Format labels. You can use a personal TypeSafe API key or available hosted beta access through Google sign-in. Jev searches automatically after a typing pause; hosted searches run while search allowance and credit remain. Hosted beta access and allowances are limited; personal-key usage may incur provider charges. Google sign-in is required. Free Beta starts automatically after sign-in; native search remains available when Jev is unavailable or AI allowance is exhausted.
BACK UP YOUR MARK ATLAS DETAILS
Export a JSON backup of bookmarks, saved page details, labels, notes, and settings. API keys and sign-in tokens are excluded. Preview a restore before applying it. Chrome can sync its bookmarks, but Mark Atlas details stay in this Chrome profile; export a backup before changing profiles or uninstalling.
GET STARTED
1. Install Mark Atlas and click its toolbar icon.
2. Continue with Google to open your library and select Free Beta. No personal AI key or payment is required.
3. Allow optional website access to save page details. Preparation continues with OpenAI quality checks and unverified AI context, then Jev classification. Local browsing and search remain available during preparation and when AI allowance runs out. Clean up, Improve titles, and Chrome folders unlock when preparation finishes.
PRIVACY AND WEBSITE ACCESS
Google sign-in is required to enter the full and compact library. Saved page details, labels, notes, and quotes stay in your Chrome profile. Website access is optional: Chrome requires a click to grant broad HTTP/HTTPS access before page preparation can continue. Mark Atlas then fetches saved bookmark links without cookies and can process newly added bookmarks in the background. The optional save card checks the active tab URL only when a bookmark is created, to offer a local note and Save for later choice.
Jev sends relevant bookmark context and search queries to TypeSafe, directly with a personal key or through the hosted service. Related searches run automatically after a typing pause while allowance and credit remain; Preferences can make them manual or local-only. Signed-in preparation sends bounded captured evidence to OpenAI for quality checks and unverified context. Generating an optional title preview sends selected titles and short descriptions to Groq; applying a preview requires your action and original titles can be restored. Routine AI requests exclude private notes, personal keywords, and quotes. The separate Update labels using saved note action sends bounded notes and keywords with your explicit action.
Google and Supabase handle sign-in. Supabase stores account, usage, cached answers, pending AI-job evidence, and feedback records. Feedback you choose to send is also copied to a private GitHub issue tracker; identity and reply details stay in Supabase. Supabase feedback expires after 90 days, while GitHub copies require separate deletion. No advertising or product-analytics trackers are added. See the linked privacy policy for provider processing, retention, and deletion.
