The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Marginote — Highlight & Annotate
Marginote turns any page into your own annotated margin. Select text, pick one of four colors, drop in a note if it matters, and it's saved to a personal library you can search later — organized by site and page, right in your browser.
WHAT IT DOES
- Highlight any selected text on any webpage in 4 distinct colors, applied instantly from a small toolbar that appears where you're reading
- Attach a note to any highlight by clicking it — useful for capturing why a passage mattered, not just that it did
- Highlights persist on the page, so they're still there the next time you visit
- Browse your full annotation library in a dedicated page, organized by domain and page
- Search across highlights, notes, pages, and domains to find a passage again
- Export your entire library as Markdown or JSON whenever you want your data out
HOW IT WORKS
Select text on any page, pick a color from the toolbar that pops up, and the highlight is saved automatically. Click any existing highlight to reopen it and add or edit a note. Open the full library from the popup to search, review, or export everything you've collected.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Marginote makes zero network requests — everything you highlight, note, and search stays stored locally in your browser. There's no account, no sync server, and nothing is ever sent anywhere.
