About Mailshade — Email Tracker Blocker

Protect your inbox from known email tracking without turning off ordinary images. Mailshade uses Chrome Manifest V3 network rules to block browser requests that match its reviewed catalog of known tracking-pixel endpoints on webmail sites you explicitly enable. It also identifies recognized tracking redirects, detects suspected unknown tracking pixels, and keeps a local history so you can understand where tracking appeared over time. CORE FEATURES - Block requests that match the reviewed catalog of known tracking-pixel endpoints with Chrome Manifest V3 network rules. - Optionally turn on Mailshade Shield to block network requests to domains in a packaged, pinned list of known ad-server domains, only inside enabled webmail origins. - Keep unknown pixels in detect-only mode by default, or separately opt in to neutralizing only the highest-confidence directly delivered tiny or hidden suspected pixels — a narrow high-confidence direct-image case — in an opened message. - See detected pixels and recognized tracking links in an opened message. - Mark a matching inbox row when the webmail service provides a stable message identity. - Review activity by date, sender domain, mail client, delivery type, and whether a suspected pixel was detected or neutralized in the message. - Get a warning before visiting a recognized tracking redirect. When the real destination is encoded in the address, Mailshade can open it directly. - Adjust detection sensitivity, allow selected domains, clear history, or export Mailshade-owned data as JSON. - Use light, dark, or automatic appearance in ten interface languages. COMPATIBILITY AND PERMISSIONS Enable only the inboxes you use. Each supported client is enabled separately. Mailshade never asks for <all_urls> access, and it does not inspect an inbox until you grant access to that specific webmail site. Mailshade Shield is off by default and is independent from email tracking protection. It uses only packaged rules and does not download remote filter lists at runtime. Shield blocks matching network requests; it does not perform cosmetic page cleanup, so a provider-native ad row or an empty placeholder may remain visible. Unknown pixels are detect-only by default. The separate neutralization option applies only to the highest-confidence directly delivered tiny or hidden images — a narrow high-confidence direct-image case. Images delivered through webmail-provider proxies remain detect-only. Because the DOM action may run after an image request has started, a neutralized image is not proof that its first network request was prevented. See the current compatibility list: https://mailshade.org/platform/ PRIVACY BY DESIGN Detection history is stored in local IndexedDB and is not sent to Mailshade. Message bodies are not stored. To detect and attribute known trackers, the extension processes sender metadata, opaque message or thread identifiers supplied by the webmail service, and relevant image or link addresses. Chrome Sync may synchronize preferences when browser sync is enabled. Paid activation and optional crash reporting are separate, user-initiated features described in the Privacy Policy. FREE AND PRO Every new installation includes a 14-day Pro trial with no card required. - Free includes core pixel protection, optional webmail-only Shield ad blocking, unknown-pixel controls, a rolling 7-day report, message indicators, tracking-link warnings with local decoding, and allow rules for tracker domains. - Pro adds all retained history, the top 30 sender domains, filtered CSV export, and per-sender mute and strict-scan controls. Paid options are $19 Founders Lifetime for the first 1,000 supporters, $59 Lifetime, $29 Annual, or $3.99 Monthly. Every paid option unlocks the same Pro features. Payments are processed by Polar as Merchant of Record, and each paid plan includes a 30-day refund.
