About Localization Testing – LocaleStress

Localization Testing – LocaleStress helps frontend developers and QA teams check web layouts before translated text arrives. It temporarily expands eligible page text by +30% or +50%, compares the stressed layout with its baseline, and gives you local evidence to review. ✨ WHAT IT DOES • Run a layout stress test on a regular HTTP(S) page after invoking the extension. • Use deterministic text expansion for synthetic pseudo localization without creating real translations. • Review potential clipping, truncation, and page overflow. Separate new and worsened signals from existing or unclassified findings. • Inspect before-and-after measurements, show a finding on the page, and mark it confirmed or ignored after visual review. • Copy issues as Markdown or export a local HTML or JSON report. Capture one visible viewport when you need a picture. • Add CSS exclusions for your site's test settings and toggle on-page highlights. • Enable local history to save runs explicitly. Keep up to 20 reports within a 3 MB budget and compare compatible runs from the same document and route. • Restore text still owned by LocaleStress while preserving application edits. Conflicts and skipped nodes are reported. 🚀 HOW TO USE 1. Open a staging page, invoke LocaleStress from the toolbar, and choose +30% or +50% expansion. 2. Run the test, then open View report. Inspect potential issues and collect the evidence you need. 3. Select Restore page from the popup, report, or on-page control when you finish. 🎯 WHO IT'S FOR Frontend developers preparing multilingual layouts. QA engineers using localization testing to review longer labels, fixed-height cards, and constrained text containers. Web studios adding a repeatable localization QA check to staging review. 🔒 PRIVACY Tests and reports stay on your device. There are no accounts, telemetry, or service uploads. Saved history is off by default. Exports include geometry, page origin, structural selectors, and review labels; page path, text snippets, semantic selectors, and screenshots are separate optional inclusions. Review these before sharing. ❓ FAQ Does this localization testing tool translate my website? No. Synthetic expansion checks how layouts respond to longer text. Findings are potential issues requiring visual review. Text overflow detection does not confirm a translation defect or replace real-language testing. What does it inspect? Eligible visible text in the current document's top-frame light DOM. It skips editable content, form controls, and code. Frames, site Shadow DOM, canvas, images, and RTL testing are outside its scope. Interface messages follow your browser language, with English as the fallback. Is it free? The current prototype is free, including local reports, exports, and optional saved history. No billing or paid plans are implemented.
