Live Translate

Live Translate turns any Chrome tab into a live interpreter. Open a lecture, a webinar, a meeting or a video in a language you don't speak, click the extension icon once, and you will hear a spoken translation while live subtitles appear at the bottom of the page — usually within about a second. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT • One click. No model picker, no tab-sharing dialog, no per-session setup. • Listen and read at once. Synthesized speech plus subtitles showing both the translation and the original transcript. • 70+ target languages. • Tunable latency. Choose between the lowest possible delay and the smoothest playback; the buffer adapts automatically when your connection wavers. • Works wherever audio plays in a tab: YouTube, Coursera, Zoom Web, webinars, live news. HOW TO USE 1. Paste a free Google AI Studio API key into the settings page. No credit card required. 2. Pick your target language. 3. Open the tab you want translated and click the extension icon. Click again to stop. PRIVACY This extension runs no server of its own. Your API key is stored only in your browser. Tab audio is streamed directly from your browser to Google's translation API; it is never written to disk and never sent anywhere else. No analytics, no tracking, no third parties. The full source code is public. Requires Chrome 116 or later.
