About Live Tabs

Live Tabs keeps your GitHub and Linear work up to date in the browser's side panel: your GitHub notifications, your pull requests, the issues you work on, and your Linear inbox. FOUR LIVE TABS, NOTHING TO SET UP • Notifications: every notification in your Inbox on github.com/notifications, read and unread, newest first and grouped by date. • Pull requests: open pull requests you're involved in or asked to review, yourself or through a team, in one list, most recently updated first. • Issues: open issues you're involved in, most recently updated first, with their labels in colour. • Linear inbox: the Linear issues you have notifications about. • Connecting an account switches its Live tabs on. Switch off the ones you don't need and put GitHub's in your own order; your choices follow you to your other browsers through browser sync. ALWAYS LIVE • Every pull request says where it stands: Needs your review, Needs your team's review, Approved, Awaiting approval, Changes requested, Checks running, Checks failing. • Every notification says why GitHub sent it (Review requested, Mentioned you, Assigned to you) and how its pull request, issue or discussion stands. Mark it Done or Mark as read right from the row, or Unsubscribe from its ••• menu, as on github.com; opening one marks it read. Done all and Unsubscribe all act on every notification GitHub has, or every unread one while All | Unread shows only the unread ones; Mark all as read marks every notification read. • Refreshes on its own every two minutes, when you open a pull request and when you come back to the browser. • Click a row to open it, or to jump to its tab when it's already open. • Dismiss a pull request with ✕; it comes back when it gets new commits or your review is requested again. A dismissed issue comes back when it's assigned to you. • A ✓ next to Pull requests and Issues counts pull requests merged or closed, and issues closed, since you last looked; click it to see them. YOUR LINEAR INBOX, BESIDE GITHUB • Use GitHub, Linear or both. Connect Linear from the first screen or the menu, and the Linear inbox lists the issues you have Linear notifications about, one row per issue. • Each row says why it's there, in Linear's words (Assigned to you, Mentioned you, New comment, Status changed), with the issue's status and who it's from, in bold while unread. • Dismiss an issue with ✕; it comes back with its next notification, and nothing changes in Linear. The ••• menu holds Linear's own actions: Mark all as read marks every unread notification read in Linear, on pages not loaded too, and Delete all, Delete all read and Delete all completed delete them from your Linear inbox, as Linear's Delete does, once you confirm the count. • A tab per Live tab at the top, each with its count, switches between them. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No server: Live Tabs talks to GitHub and Linear directly from your browser. • Your GitHub and Linear sign-ins stay in this browser and are never synced or sent anywhere but GitHub and Linear. • No analytics, no tracking, no ads. Connect GitHub in two clicks: Live Tabs shows a short code, copies it, and opens GitHub to paste it. Connect Linear through Linear's own sign-in window, or paste a personal API key. Live Tabs asks Linear for read and write access, and writes only to mark notifications read when you click Mark all as read, or to delete (archive) them when you confirm a Delete. Why full access to private repositories? GitHub has no read-only permission for private repositories in OAuth Apps. On GitHub, Live Tabs changes only your notifications, and only when you ask: Done, Unsubscribe, Mark as read. It never writes, comments, merges or closes anything in your repositories. Works in Chrome, Brave and other Chromium browsers.
