About Lingo Practice — YouTube
Turn YouTube videos into listening practice with Lingo Practice.
Listen to a video, fill in missing words in the subtitles, and press Enter to check your answers. Replay difficult lines, use hints when needed, and return to your saved lessons.
Features:
• Create exercises from YouTube captions, the transcript panel, or your own SRT/VTT subtitle files.
• Replay individual lines and optionally pause at the end of an unanswered line.
• Get hints: reveal the first letter, replay at a slower speed, or show the answer.
• Review mistakes and practise difficult parts again.
• Adjust difficulty, subtitle timing, video size, and text size.
• Continue saved lessons and browse difficult words in your lesson library.
• Export your word list as CSV and back up or restore your progress using JSON files.
• Choose an English or Russian interface.
Getting started:
1. Open a regular YouTube video and wait for the player to load.
2. Click the Lingo Practice extension icon.
3. Select a subtitle source or open an SRT/VTT file.
4. Listen, type the missing words, and check your answers.
Your progress is stored locally in your browser profile. No account, subscription, or API key is required.
Designed primarily for English listening practice. YouTube Shorts and live streams are not supported. Caption availability and accuracy depend on YouTube and the video.
