The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Langik — capture words from the web
Read the whole web in the language you're learning.
Select any word or sentence on any page — a news article, a blog post, API
docs — and Langik translates it, explains what it means in that sentence,
breaks down the grammar, or reads it aloud. No copy-paste, no switching tabs.
Save a word and it goes straight into your Langik vocabulary, grouped by the
site you found it on and kept with the sentence you found it in. From there it
enters the same spaced-repetition schedule as the words you saved while
reading books in the Langik app, so everything you collect gets reviewed in
one place.
WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH A SELECTION
• Translate it, in the context of the sentence around it
• Ask what it means, not just what it translates to
• Break down the grammar — tense, agreement, and why the form changed
• Hear it pronounced by a natural-sounding voice
• Save it to your vocabulary with its source page and sentence
• Continue in a full chat if you want to ask a follow-up
WORKS WITH YOUTUBE CAPTIONS TOO
On YouTube, Langik adds a tappable caption line under the video. Tap or hover
any word while it's playing — the video pauses automatically, the same
translate, explain and save actions appear, and playback resumes once you're
done. Words you save this way are grouped by channel, right alongside the
ones you save from articles.
BUILT FOR LEARNERS, NOT FOR SCRAPING
Langik asks for access to a website only when you switch it on for that site
from the toolbar popup. It does not request permission to read your browsing,
and it has no content script running on pages you haven't enabled. Your
account credentials stay in the extension's background worker — the page
you're reading never sees them.
REQUIRES A LANGIK ACCOUNT
The extension is a companion to the Langik reading app at https://langik.com.
Sign in once from the toolbar popup. Translation, explanation and vocabulary
sync run against your Langik account, so this extension needs a connection —
the reading app itself is the part that works offline.
