L'auxiliaire

Read French on any page without stopping to look things up. Click a word to see its translation. Drag across a phrase to translate the whole thing. It works on articles, blogs and PDFs (through the built-in reader). Save words as you go and L’auxiliaire keeps the sentence you found them in, so you study them in context instead of as bare flashcards. Words are sorted automatically by article or PDF, and you can make your own collections too. Conjugated forms are grouped under their infinitive, so “parle”, “parlé” and “parlez” count as one word. Other features: - Speaking practice: paste or select a dialogue, the extension reads one side and you speak the other. You’re scored on pronunciation, not spelling. - Offline conjugation tables for around 7,000 verbs - Optional colour coding of nouns by gender - Reading level estimate (A1 to C2) for the current page - Export to CSV or Anki - Light and dark themes, keyboard shortcuts and a quick first-time tour Private by design: no account, no API key, no subscription. Translation runs on Chrome’s built-in on-device AI, so after a one-time language pack download it works fully offline and nothing you read or save leaves your computer. The only exception is speaking practice, which uses Chrome’s own speech recognition (details in the privacy policy). Requires Chrome 138 or newer on desktop.
