icanhazUX seeks to add a more modernized user experience to [icanhazchat.com](https://www.icanhazchat.com) without necessarily overhauling the core layout. You get a more intuitive settings menu, a cam grid you can arrange, a cleaner chat, light and dark themes, and the rest of the site restyled to match. What's New in 1.3.1 • Hiding a cam of someone who’s using a nickname now offers the Perma-nick checkbox right away, so you can keep them hidden on future visits without opening the Hidden list. • Fixes people dropping out of the on-cam list and count after changing their nickname while on cam. What’s New in 1.3 • Keep PMs (optional, in the chat bar’s ⚙): your PM conversations survive a refresh, and come back in later visits in the Closed menu. Stored only in your browser for 7 days. • Pick a font: Friendly (Nunito), Modern (Atkinson Hyperlegible Next, designed for low-vision readers) or Tech (Oxanium). Chat text stays in Source Sans 3. • The on-cam count in the people list now counts every cam after a page load, not just the first few. • The chat box no longer grabs the cursor after every click, and no longer pops the keyboard open on phones. • Fixed the color picker hiding behind the people list. • Pressing Enter in the color picker now saves your color instead of opening a cam report. • Fixed cam buttons jumping when clicked, for people with Reduce motion turned on. • Changing the chat line style now restyles the lines already in chat. • Tweaked the light theme (more neutral) and pink accent (more readable) • Group post page style updates What's New in 1.2: • Works in narrow windows: the site header's links fold into a ☰ menu, with a dot for new messages, and the settings panels fit the screen. • Your cams/chat split comes back when you widen the window again, and a room full of cams stays an even grid when space is tight. • Auto-refresh now also catches cams that never start or show only black (may take up to 20s). This should significantly reduce the amount of times you need to manually refresh a cam. • The people drawer closes once you whisper, chat or open a PM. • Tenor short links open as plain links instead of a broken preview. • Hiding a cam is better at telling when a name is a nickname. • Refreshing a cam now always restarts the right one. Core functionality: CAMS • Cams fill the room, each at its real aspect ratio, packed to use the space. • Focus a cam to make it the big feed, with the rest around it. • Drag cams into the order you like; it's remembered. • Hidden cams stay hidden when that nick cams up again. • Drag the divider to give cams or chat more room. CHAT • A chat bar that shows its state: pause and resume, clear, PMs, settings. • Colors stay readable in dark mode. • Emotimeme autocomplete, and image and video previews right in the chat. CONSOLIDATED SETTINGS • Original settings as clear choices: text color and size, line style, timestamps, who can message you, notices, sounds, all with your current selection clear and visible. • Site-wide theme options, including light and dark themes (or follow your system) with eight accent colors. These settings are available from the central settings menu below chat, or from the | ichux menu on any page. PEOPLE AND PMS • A people list you can search, showing who's idle, on cam, a mod or a supporter. • PMs docked in the chat, or popped out into a window you can move and resize. EVERYWHERE • All site pages reflect the new themes and styling. • More predictable/responsive mobile layout (try the extension on a mobile browser that supports them, such as Vivaldi!) PRIVATE BY DESIGN No accounts, no analytics, no tracking. Your settings stay in your browser. The extension runs only on icanhazchat.com and asks for no other permissions. RESPECTING SITE OWNERSHIP There are no features here that put a deeper bandwidth burden on the site. Cams still timeout if you're idle (a change from icanhazbetter), nothing is changed as far as the quality of broadcast streams. This extension is intended to improve the end-user experience, not put further stress on ICHC's servers.
