The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About icanhazbetter
**Known Issues:**
Stopping live, un-broadcasting, or camming down may return a "username is broadcasting audio." It is recommended at this point to manually refresh the page to stop broadcasting until a better method is developed.
Scrolling within the chat is not perfect, and chat retention may appear sporadic. If you encounter issues and can determine a pattern please contact me.
If you encounter performance issues in general, please contact me with the browser you're using, and any relevant information.

icanhazbetter is a quality-of-life extension for icanhazchat.com that overhauls the interface with seven polished themes, a cam layout that packs itself to fill your screen, smarter chat, a rebuilt user list, and a proper private messaging experience.
Themes
Seven complete themes replace the site's default styling across every surface — chat, cams, toolbars, modals, and panels: Dark, Light, Catppuccin Mocha, Tokyo Night, Everforest, Paper, and Rosé Pine Dawn. Switch between them from the settings cog at the top of the user list.
Every theme is contrast-checked, so muted text and per-user nickname colours stay readable on light and dark backgrounds alike.
Legacy image-based icons are replaced with clean SVG/Unicode glyphs throughout the interface.
Cam Layout & Sizing
Self-packing gallery: Cams are packed into a justified layout that fills the available width and lets each card hug its true aspect ratio, instead of being forced into fixed grid cells. The layout re-flows automatically as cams join, leave, or change shape.
Per-cam size controls: Hover over any cam to reveal − and + buttons. Cycle through five discrete sizes:
Mini — half a default slot, useful for keeping an eye on a quiet cam without it taking up space
Default — standard size
Wide — double-wide
Wider — triple-wide
Cinema — full row, tall 16:9 featured view
Featured / spotlight mode: Click the spotlight button on any cam to pin it as the featured cam — it expands to fill the row while the others move to thumbnails beside it. Secondary cams are never cropped or pushed off the bottom of the panel.
Drag to reorder: Drag cam cards to rearrange them. Order is saved across sessions.
Hide cams: Hide any cam you don't want to see. Hidden cams persist across refreshes and collect in a collapsible section at the bottom of the user list.
Broadcast timer on live cams, throttled refresh so cams stop reloading at random, and automatic restart after a dropped feed.
Go Live panel: A redesigned broadcaster panel with a close button and live-state indicator. Pick your camera and streaming quality directly from it — on Firefox, the camera you select is the one that actually goes out.
User List
A rebuilt user list panel replaces the site's default with a searchable, scrollable sidebar showing online users with color-coded status (active, cammed, mod, idle).
Profile avatars: Each user row shows their profile picture, fetched and cached locally so repeat visits are instant, falling back to hash-coloured initials when no picture is set.
Supporter highlighting: Get Hearted / site supporter users are visually distinguished with a glow effect.
Year badges and karma tiers: Account age badges and karma indicators sit on the user rows.
Sort and filter: Sort by name, join date, or status. The filter searches active users and the hidden-cams section at the same time.
Inline cam controls: Users with hidden cams show an enable button directly in the list row.
Live cam strip: A compact avatar strip in the collapsed sidebar shows who's currently on cam, with name tooltips. Collapse and expand with one click.
Profile dropdowns with avatar, bio, trophies, and background image.
Live viewer/cam counter with a per-digit flip animation.
Chat
Condensed joins and leaves: Consecutive join and leave events collapse into a single counted row (e.g. "3 Joined: alice, bob, charlie") instead of flooding the log, and reset on the next real message.
Link previews: Image links embed inline as previews. Other links get a compact card with the page title, description, and thumbnail.
Relative timestamps that keep their seconds and refresh as time passes, with empty timestamp-only rows removed automatically.
Mention alerts: A sound and a highlight when your name comes up.
GIF and emote picker with search, plus an emoji tab. Type :name in the chat box for inline tab-completion.
Chat history is retained when the room clears.
Per-user nickname colours, nickname grouping on consecutive messages, and a reply button on every row.
Floating overlay scrollbars that appear while scrolling and don't steal layout space, plus a frosted chat input bar.
Bundled Hanken Grotesk chat font.
Private Messaging
A proper PM panel with an unread badge and pulse on inactive tabs, drag, resize, and minimise support, and per-conversation history that survives closing the window.
Performance
Built for rooms left open all day: the chat log is capped and the extension cleans up its own listeners, timers, and stored data, so the page doesn't slowly grind to a halt over a long session.
Privacy
No data is collected, transmitted, or shared with anyone. There are no analytics and no servers of our own. Your settings — hidden cams, theme, camera choice — are stored in your own browser and never leave your device.
