Hunting Areas for Komoot

Planning a ride or hike in the Belgian Ardennes during hunting season? This extension adds a "Hunting" button next to the Layers button on komoot maps. Pick a date and see which hunting areas have closed paths that day, so you can choose a route that stays clear of them. Why I built this: I love riding in the beautiful Ardennes, but on too many trips I've come around a bend only to find my route blocked by a hunting closure. Turning back and improvising a detour through unknown forest gets old fast. So I built the tool I wished I'd had: a quick way to check, right in komoot, whether a route crosses a hunt on the day I'm riding. I hope it saves you a few detours too. What it shows: Driven hunts (battues): paths are closed all day Stalking hunts (affût): often closed only around dawn and dusk Other hunts with path closures Optionally, hunts that don't close any paths Hover over an area to see the type of hunt and the territory number. How to use it: Open a map on komoot.com, for example Discover or the route planner. Zoom in to an area in Wallonia. Click the Hunting button next to Layers, choose a date and switch the overlay on. Data source: Service public de Wallonie (SPW), Département de la Nature et des Forêts, dataset "Chasse – Territoires et dates (version anonymisée)", licensed under CC BY 4.0. This is the same data used by partageonslaforet.be. It is updated daily and covers Wallonia only (not Flanders, Brussels or other countries). The data is for information only and has no legal value. Signs and closures on site always take precedence. Privacy: the extension collects no personal data, has no account and no tracking. It only fetches public hunting data for the area on your screen.
