hodgepodge

hodgepodge: your daily check-in Remember show & tell? You'd bring something to class — a rock you found, your dad's weird coin, a drawing you weren't sure about — and you'd just share it. It wasn't polished. It wasn't optimized. You just held up the thing and said "this is what I've got today." And that was enough. hodgepodge brings that back. Every new tab opens your daily check-in: a simple, calm space to share your real day with your real people. What is hodgepodge? Each day has three layers: Tasks: the boring stuff, the hard stuff, the stuff you keep putting off. No projects, no priorities, no labels. Just what you're doing today. A photo: one photo per day of your actual day. Not a highlight reel. A tuesday. Thoughts: a gratitude, a lesson, a question, an observation. Whatever's on your mind. Your friends see the real version. And you see theirs. What does this extension do? It replaces your Chrome new tab page with hodgepodge. That's it. Every time you open a new tab, you see your day — your tasks, your photo, your thoughts, and what your people are up to. No news feeds, no productivity dashboards, no inspirational quotes over stock photos. Just your day. It's a gentle nudge to check in. Not with your inbox. With yourself and the people who matter. Why your new tab? You open new tabs dozens of times a day. Most of the time, you're greeted by a search bar and some frequently visited sites. hodgepodge turns that moment into something better — a quick glance at your day, a friend's photo, a task you can check off. It takes the most mundane browser action and makes it feel a little more human. Features • Simple daily task list — add what you're doing today, check things off as you go • One photo per day — show what you're actually up to • Thoughts & reflections — gratitudes, lessons, questions, observations, intentions • Social feed — see your friends' real days, not their best days • Comments — leave a note on a friend's day • Activity heatmap — a warm, quiet record of the days you showed up • Dark mode — easy on the eyes, whenever you want it • Works on desktop — the full hodgepodge experience, right in your browser Who is this for? People who are a little tired of performative social media. People with a geographically scattered friend group who want to stay close without the pressure of keeping up. People who'd rather know what their friend actually did on a random wednesday than see another vacation photo. If you've ever wanted a social app that feels more like a group chat than a stage, this is it.
