The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About HN Sidekick
HN Sidekick shows the Hacker News thread for the current tab in Chrome’s side panel.
• Open any article URL that was submitted on HN — or an HN item page
• See the story title, points, and top-level comments beside what you’re reading
• No Tampermonkey / userscript setup
How to use:
1. Click the HN Sidekick icon to open the side panel
2. Browse a normal web page (or an HN item)
3. The panel looks up the matching discussion via the public Algolia HN Search API
Phase 1 shows the best-matching story and up to 5 top-level comments (plain text).
Privacy: the extension reads the active tab URL only to query HN/Algolia. No accounts, no analytics SDK, no sale of data.
