About Haven Groups Inbox
Haven Groups Inbox gives each Google Group your team monitors its own inbox in Gmail's left menu, so shared mail is easy to find and keep track of.
FEATURES
• Group inboxes in the left menu — each group gets its own entry with an unread count, right under Inbox.
• Active only / All — switch between threads you haven't archived and everything in the group.
• Claim and finish threads together — claim a thread so teammates know you're on it (several people can claim the same one), and mark it finished for the whole group. Each claimant shows as a small circle with their initials next to the sender's name, with a check mark when the thread is finished.
• Archive for yourself — archiving hides a thread from your own view only. Teammates still see it in theirs.
• Arrange your groups — drag to reorder them, hide a group you don't need, and choose per group whether its unread count shows and whether it counts toward the number on the Mail icon. These settings are yours alone.
• Add a group in one click — enter the group's email address and a display name. The extension sets up the inbox entry for you, or reuses the one a teammate already created.
• Remove a group — clears that group's inbox entry from your own mailbox without affecting anyone else.
HOW TO USE
1. Install the extension and open Gmail.
2. Click the gear (Quick settings) at the top right of Gmail, open "Haven Groups", then "+ Add Group Inbox".
3. Enter a group's email address and a display name, and approve the Google permissions prompt.
4. Reload Gmail. The group appears in the left menu under Inbox.
WHO IT'S FOR
Teams that use Google Workspace and Google Groups for shared mailboxes such as support, office, or IT. Each person signs in with their own Google account.
PRIVACY
The extension works only on mail.google.com and talks only to Google (Gmail, Sheets, Drive and your organization's directory) using your own account. There is no separate server, no analytics, and no advertising. It does not read the subject, sender, or body of your messages. An optional "Send debug log" button uploads an encrypted activity log to the developer only when you press it. Full policy: see the privacy policy link on this page.
PERMISSIONS
• Gmail, Sheets and Drive access — to create each group's inbox label, rule, and supporting sheet, to keep your personal archive up to date, and to find a group's existing sheet so it isn't duplicated (Drive file names only, never file contents).
• Your email address — to identify your account within the group.
• Your organization's directory (names only) — to show a teammate's real initials instead of guessing them from their email address. Only the name for an address that has claimed a thread is looked up.
• Site access to mail.google.com — to add the group entries to Gmail.
