Hakraa – Read Text Aloud in a Natural Voice

Reads aloud the text you select on any website – in Hebrew, in a natural, human-sounding voice. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Select text and listen: right-click → "הקרא בקול" (Read aloud), click the toolbar button, or press Alt+Shift+K. • Read a whole page: right-click the page → "הקרא את כל הדף" (Read the whole page). • Paste an article straight into the panel and listen to it. • Pause, resume and skip between passages, and see which passage is being read. • Choose a voice: two female and two male voices, or your computer's voice. • Change the reading speed. • Text copied from a chat – headings, asterisks, emoji and links – is cleaned up automatically, so symbols are not read out. • English text is read in an English voice. HOW TO START 1. Select text on any website. 2. Right-click and choose "הקרא בקול". Reading opens in a panel at the side of the browser. 3. For the natural voice: click "⚙ מפתח גוגל" in the panel and paste your own key. The key is free, needs no credit card, and takes two minutes to get from Google AI Studio (the panel links to it). Without a key the extension works right away with your computer's voice. PRIVACY • The extension reads text from a page only when you click one of the read-aloud controls, and only from the page you clicked on. It does not track browsing and does not run in the background. • When a Google voice is selected, the text you asked to hear is sent to Google to be turned into speech – and nowhere else. • Your key and preferences are stored only in your browser. • No ads, no analytics, no tracking. The developer runs no server and cannot see what was read. GOOD TO KNOW • The natural voice comes from Google Gemini, whose free tier has a daily quota. When it runs out the extension switches to the computer's voice by itself and returns to the Google voice when the quota renews. • The interface is in Hebrew. • This extension is not a Google product and is not affiliated with Google.
