Google Chat Enhancer — Private Notifications, Lists & Threads

Google Chat Enhancer is a free Google Chat extension for Chrome that adds the features Google Chat is missing — real numbered and lettered lists, private desktop notifications that hide your message text, thread replies you can actually see, bookmarks, message templates, and @mentions that survive a paste. It works in Google Chat (chat.google.com) and in the Google Chat panel inside Gmail, on personal and Google Workspace accounts. Chat is great for teams, but it leaves a lot on the table: no numbered lists, desktop notifications that flash your private conversations on screen for anyone to read, threaded replies hiding behind a tiny "3 replies" link, and walls of text you have to scroll past. This extension fixes all of it. Install it once. Writing gets faster, your screen gets private, threads become unmissable, and long messages stop eating your scroll wheel. No account, no setup, no tracking, no network requests. ═══════════════════════════════ NUMBERED LISTS THAT ACTUALLY WORK ═══════════════════════════════ Google Chat has no real numbered lists. This extension adds them. TYPE "1." AND GO — Type "1. " and press Enter; the next number appears automatically. Keep typing, the list keeps counting. TAB TO INDENT — Tab indents to lettered sub-items (a. b. c.), Shift+Tab outdents, and everything renumbers itself when you insert, delete, or reorder items. PASTE A LIST, KEEP THE LIST — Paste a numbered list from a doc or another app and it stays a clean, live list you can keep editing. FOUR NUMBER STYLES — Plain (1. 2. 3.), circled (① ② ③), filled (❶ ❷ ❸) or parenthesized (⑴ ⑵ ⑶). Sent as Unicode text, so recipients see them perfectly — no plugin required on their end.
