The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Glimpse
Glimpse gives you instant word definitions without ever leaving the page you're reading.
Simply highlight any word and a clean, non-intrusive popup appears with:
• Definitions — clear, concise meanings organized by part of speech
• Phonetic transcription — so you know how it's pronounced
• Audio pronunciation — hear the word spoken aloud with one click, using real human recordings when available
• Usage examples — see the word used in context
Why Glimpse?
• Zero friction — no clicks, no toolbar buttons, just highlight and go
• On/off anytime — pause Glimpse in one click from the toolbar icon, no digging through Chrome's extension settings
• Dark & light themes — choose your preferred look; your choice syncs across devices
• Lightweight — no bloat, no tracking, no account required
• Stays out of your way — dismiss with Escape, a click, or just keep reading
Definitions come from Wiktionary (CC BY-SA 4.0) via FreeDictionaryAPI.com, with a direct Wiktionary backup if that service is unavailable. Pronunciation recordings come from Wiktionary. Open source at github.com/jawuanlewis/glimpse-ext
Glimpse is free and private. It collects no user data, and only the word you highlight is sent to look up its definition and pronunciation.
Note: after installing (or updating), refresh any tabs that were already open — Glimpse only activates on tabs loaded after install.
