The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.

About GitHub Smart Downloader

GitHub Smart Downloader saves any GitHub repository, folder, or hand-picked set of files as a ZIP, straight from your browser. No cloning, no terminal, no backend server. What it does • Download folders: Grab just the folder you need from GitHub's tree view as its own ZIP. • Pick files with checkboxes: Tick files and folders in GitHub's file list and download them as one ZIP, with the folder structure kept. • File sizes in the file list: See each file's size in GitHub's file table before you download. • Single-file downloads: Save any file directly, without a ZIP, from its row icon or the right-click menu. • Branch picker: Search and switch branches in the toolbar popup. Branch names with slashes (feature/x, dependabot/…) are resolved correctly. Commit and tag pages download that exact version. • Exclusion packs: Leave out node_modules, Python virtualenvs, Java/Maven output, build folders and logs when downloading a whole repository. Toggle packs per download or add your own. • Progress and cancel: Follow each download in a small in-page toast with file counts and a progress bar, and cancel at any time. Failed or partial downloads are reported as such, never as complete. Why it stays out of your way • Built into GitHub's pages: Controls sit in GitHub's own file list and follow your light or dark theme. Keyboard and screen reader friendly. • Runs in your browser: ZIP files are built locally in the extension. It talks only to GitHub (github.com, api.github.com, raw.githubusercontent.com, codeload.github.com). No analytics, no tracking, no accounts. • Reuses downloads: Several downloads from the same repository within a few minutes share one copy of the repository archive, saving bandwidth and API quota. • Optional token for private repos: Add a read-only fine-grained GitHub token to download private repositories and raise GitHub's API limit from 60 to 5,000 requests per hour. The token is stored only in this browser's local extension storage, is not synced to other devices, and is sent only to GitHub. Open source under the MIT license. How to use it 1. Open any GitHub repository. 2. Pick a branch in the popup, or tick the files and folders you want in the file list. 3. Click "Download Selected" in the page, or "Download" in the toolbar popup. GitHub Smart Downloader is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by GitHub, Inc.
