The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About GitHub Markdown Translator
Translate READMEs, docs, issues, and pull requests on GitHub with one click.
Powered by Chrome's built-in on-device Translator API — no API key, no account, and nothing ever leaves your browser. Safe to use even on private repositories and internal documentation.
KEY FEATURES
◆ Code is never translated
Code blocks, inline code, and keyboard shortcuts (pre / code / kbd, etc.) are structurally excluded. No more broken snippets or copy-pasting translated code.
◆ One-click toggle
A button in the corner of the page translates the Markdown; click again to restore the original text exactly. The layout stays intact.
◆ Automatic language detection
The source language is detected automatically, so it works for English, Chinese, Spanish, or any supported language — even mixed-language pages, which are detected paragraph by paragraph. Pick your target language from the toolbar popup (defaults to your browser's language).
◆ Fully local and free
Translation runs entirely on your device. No sign-up, no usage fees.
WORKS ON
Repository READMEs, Markdown file views, wikis, and issue / PR bodies and comments (github.com / gist.github.com).
REQUIREMENTS
Chrome 138 or later. On first use, a translation model is downloaded per language pair (progress is shown on the button).
PRIVACY
This extension does not collect or transmit your browsing data or translated text. The only stored setting is your target language, kept in Chrome's sync storage.
