About GIF Comments for YouTube
YouTube now supports GIF comments, but only in the mobile app. GIF Comments adds the missing GIF button to YouTube on your computer.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Open any YouTube video or Short and click "Add a comment" or "Reply".
2. Click the GIF button next to the emoji button.
3. Search Tenor or tap a mood (LOL, Wow, Clap, Facepalm…), pick a GIF and press Post GIF.
EVERYONE SEES YOUR GIF
Your GIF is posted as a normal YouTube GIF comment, the same kind the YouTube app posts. Viewers don't need this extension to see it, on phones or computers.
FEATURES
• Search all of Tenor, or paste a Tenor link
• Mood shortcuts for the reactions you use most
• Preview before posting, so a misclick never posts the wrong GIF
• Recent and Saved tabs
• Your text and the GIF go out together, in comments and replies
• Shows only GIFs YouTube accepts (rated G for all ages)
• Hide GIFs switch: fold every GIF in the comments into a "Show" chip
• Matches YouTube's light and dark themes
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no ads
• Talks only to YouTube and Tenor; search goes to Tenor without your cookies
• Never reads your password or cookies: YouTube's own page sends the comment
• Saved GIFs stay in your browser
GOOD TO KNOW
• YouTube only accepts Tenor GIFs rated G. Uploads and GIPHY links can't be posted.
• GIFs can't be added while editing a comment or writing a community post.
• This is an independent extension, not made by or affiliated with YouTube or Google. It may stop working if YouTube changes its site; we'll ship fixes as fast as we can.
