German Word Lookup

Read German online and actually remember what you learn. Highlight any word to get its definition, gender, conjugation, and translation — then save it, quiz yourself, and track your progress. All without leaving the page. ────────────────────────────── 📖 HOW IT WORKS ────────────────────────────── Learning a language means encountering words you don't know, looking them up, and then forgetting them two days later. This extension breaks that cycle with a simple four-step loop built into your browser: 1. HIGHLIGHT — Select any German word or phrase on any webpage. A badge appears instantly. Click it to see the full lookup. 2. LOOK UP — See the English definition, grammatical gender (der/die/das), plural form, part of speech, and verb conjugation table — all in one place, without opening a new tab. 3. SAVE — Click "Save Word" to add it to your personal vocab list. The sentence you found it in is saved automatically as context. 4. QUIZ — Open the popup and hit Quiz. Your saved words become Anki-style flashcards. Rate each card — Again / Hard / Good / Easy — and the built-in algorithm decides when to show it again. The more you struggle with a word, the sooner it comes back. BONUS — RETRY HARD CARDS After a quiz session, toggle "Retry Hard & Again cards" to drill only the words you struggled with. Skip everything you already know and focus where it counts. The button tells you exactly how many cards are waiting — or lets you know when you've mastered them all. ────────────────────────────── ✨ FULL FEATURE LIST ────────────────────────────── LOOKUP 📖 English definition — powered by Wiktionary, no account needed ⚧ Gender + plural — color-coded der / die / das with plural form for every noun 🌐 Phrase translation — highlight multiple words for an instant English translation 🏷️ Part of speech — Verb, Noun, Adjective, Adverb, and more 🔑 Verb conjugation — Präsens · Präteritum · Partizip II · Imperativ in a clean grid 🧠 Inflection detection — look up "bietet" and it resolves to the base verb "bieten" 🔊 Pronunciation — click 🔊 or enable auto-pronounce via your browser's speech engine 📌 Pin tooltip — drag and lock the tooltip so it stays visible while you keep reading VOCABULARY LIST 💾 Save words — builds a vocab list with gender, plural, context sentence, and date 📅 Day-wise groups — words are organized by the day you saved them; collapse older days 🔢 Lookup frequency — "looked up 5×" badge highlights which words you keep forgetting ⬇️ CSV export — download your full list for Anki, Excel, or Google Sheets QUIZ & SPACED REPETITION 🧠 SRS Quiz — flashcard deck built from your saved words; same algorithm as Anki ⚡ Retry Hard & Again cards — focus mode that skips mastered words and drills weak ones 🔥 Daily streak — save at least one word per day to keep your streak alive 📊 Statistics — words saved · day streak · quiz sessions · 7-day save chart SETTINGS & APPEARANCE 🌙 Dark mode — easy on the eyes, remembered automatically 🎨 Three accent themes — Blue · Teal · Purple 📐 Tooltip sizes — Small · Medium · Large 🌐 DeepL integration — optional free API key for higher-quality translations ⏸ Pause toggle — disable all activity instantly, resume with one click ────────────────────────────── 🆕 WHAT'S NEW IN v1.1.2 ────────────────────────────── 📅 Day-wise word groups — saved words now organized by day; click a date header to expand or collapse.
