Gemini Temporary Chat Shortcut

Gemini Temporary Chat Shortcut — Open Gemini temporary chat instantly with a keyboard shortcut. 🔑 Default shortcut: Option+Shift+G (macOS) / Alt+Shift+G (Windows/Linux) Rebindable from chrome://extensions/shortcuts — or click the extension icon to jump straight to the shortcut manager. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 💡 Why this extension? Unlike ChatGPT, Google Gemini does not provide a keyboard shortcut or URL to start a temporary chat. The only way is to manually click the icon — which interrupts keyboard-driven workflows. This extension solves that by letting you open a temporary chat with a single keyboard shortcut. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ✨ Features • Press Option+Shift+G (macOS) or Alt+Shift+G (Windows/Linux) to instantly open a temporary chat • Rebind the shortcut to any combination via chrome://extensions/shortcuts • Click the toolbar icon to open the shortcut manager; hover to see the current binding • Resilient to Gemini UI changes — layered DOM selector fallbacks survive renames • IME-compatible — works regardless of input language • Runs ONLY on gemini.google.com — no interference with other sites ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🆕 What's new in v1.0.2 • Default shortcut changed from Alt+Shift+N to Alt+Shift+G — the old combo now collides with Chrome's split-view tab shortcut. • Shortcut is now user-configurable via Chrome's built-in shortcut manager (chrome.commands API). • Toolbar icon opens the shortcut manager in one click; tooltip shows the current binding (e.g. "Shortcut: ⌥⇧G"). • Tightened content-script match pattern from *://*.gemini.google.com/* to https://gemini.google.com/* for minimum-privilege scope. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🔒 Privacy This extension does NOT collect, store, or transmit any user data. No analytics, no tracking, no network requests. The source code is fully open on GitHub. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 📖 Open Source: https://github.com/TaehyeonPark/gemini-temporary-chat-shortcut
