About Future Cost Lens | Future Value & Opportunity Cost
Before you click Buy, see what that money could become.
Future Cost Lens is an opportunity-cost reminder designed to help you make more intentional online shopping decisions.
When you hover over a product price, Future Cost Lens instantly estimates:
What could this money become in 5, 10, or 20 years if you did not spend it today and it grew at your chosen annual return rate?
The real cost of a purchase is not always limited to the price tag.
You can also enter your monthly income and working hours to estimate how many hours of work a purchase represents. This turns an abstract price into something more personal and easier to evaluate.
When you decide not to buy something, select “I decided not to buy” to record the amount as money saved this month. You can then view your monthly progress and the hypothetical future value of those savings directly from the extension popup.
Future Cost Lens does not tell you whether you should buy something. It simply helps you see another possibility before you check out.
