It is designed for people who prefer listening while reading, studying, researching, working, or browsing long articles. HOW TO USE To read selected text: 1. Select text on a webpage. 2. Right-click the selected text. 3. Choose “Read selected text aloud.” To read a full webpage: 1. Open the extension from the Chrome toolbar. 2. Select “Full page.” 3. Choose a voice and playback speed. 4. Press Play. PRIVACY BY DEFAULT Page text is processed locally in the browser for this extension’s read-aloud functionality. The extension does not upload webpage text to SpeakMyDoc, collect browsing history, sell personal information, or display advertising. The extension only accesses the active webpage after the user invokes it. Voice, speed, and local playback preferences are stored on the user’s device. Some voices provided by Chrome or the operating system may use the platform provider’s online speech service. Voice availability depends on the user’s browser, operating system, and installed voices. An account or paid subscription is not required for local webpage reading with the Chrome extension. LIMITATIONS Chrome does not allow extensions to access protected pages such as chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, and certain built-in browser pages.
