About Form Time Machine — Never Lose What You Type

You spent twenty minutes writing a comment. The tab crashed. It's gone. Or the session timed out. Or you hit back by accident. Or the site reloaded and cleared the form. Everyone has lost a long piece of writing to a browser this way, and everyone has had the same reaction: why doesn't this just save? Form Time Machine makes it just save. HOW IT WORKS Install it and forget it. As you type in any form — a comment box, a pull request description, a cover letter, a support ticket, a long reply — Form Time Machine keeps a copy on your own computer. When something goes wrong, come back to the page. A small prompt appears in the corner offering to restore what you wrote. Click it, and your text is back exactly where it was. If you'd rather go looking yourself, click the toolbar icon to search everything you've ever typed, across every site. WHAT YOU GET - Automatic saving — no button to press, no draft to remember to save - One-click recovery right on the page where you lost the text - Full-text search across every field you've typed in - Version history — each field keeps its earlier drafts, so you can go back further than your last state - Works with modern sites — React, Vue, Angular and rich text editors all restore correctly - Pin anything you want kept permanently - Keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+Shift+Y to open, Alt+Shift+R to restore the whole page WHAT IT WILL NEVER SAVE This is the part that matters, so it is worth being specific. Form Time Machine never stores: - Password fields - Credit and debit card numbers (checked by field name and by validating the digits themselves) - CVV, CVC and security codes - One-time passcodes and 2FA fields - Bank account, routing, IBAN and sort code fields - Social security, national ID and tax ID numbers - API keys, tokens, recovery phrases and seed phrases You can also exclude any site entirely — your bank, your company intranet, anything you like. PRIVACY Your text is stored in your browser on this computer and nowhere else. There is no account. There is no sign-in. There are no servers. There is no analytics, no telemetry and no tracking. The extension contains no code that makes a network request of any kind, which means there is nothing it could send your data to even in principle. You can export everything to a file or delete everything permanently, at any time, from the settings page. SETTINGS YOU CONTROL - How long history is kept (1 day through forever — 30 days by default) - Minimum length before something is saved, so search boxes don't pile up - Maximum number of entries before the oldest are cleaned up - Sites to exclude completely - Whether the on-page recovery prompt appears - Pause saving entirely, without losing what's already saved WHO THIS IS FOR Developers writing pull request and issue descriptions. Job seekers filling in application forms that time out. Support agents and community managers writing long replies. Students submitting coursework. Anyone who writes more than a sentence into a web form and has been burned once. Free, no ads, no upsell, no premium tier.
