About FontSnoop – Font Finder & Font Identifier
FontSnoop shows which font a web page uses. Hover over text to see the font name beside the cursor. Click the text to see more details in the side panel.
Many tools show the first font listed in the stack, which can be wrong. FontSnoop shows the font the browser actually uses, along with its source: Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts, a file on the website, or a font installed on the computer.
The side panel shows:
• The font name and source
• The full font stack, with the font in use marked
• Font size, line height, weight, style, and letter spacing
• Text and background colors in Hex, RGB, or HSL
• The contrast ratio and whether it meets WCAG accessibility standards
• Sample text displayed in the font
• CSS ready to copy
Check the font
Click Check to ask Chrome which fonts it used to display the selected text and how many characters each font supplied. This can reveal extra fonts used for emoji or characters missing from the main font. Chrome briefly shows a debugging notice during the check.
See all fonts on the page
The Page fonts tab lists every font in use, its weights, and how many elements use it. Hover over a font in the list to highlight the matching text on the page.
Compare text
Select several pieces of text to pin and number them. Switch between them in the side panel to compare their fonts and settings.
Get started
• Click the toolbar icon or press Alt+Shift+F to start.
• Right-click text and choose Inspect font.
• Press Esc to stop.
Privacy
FontSnoop only runs on a tab when asked. It collects no data and sends nothing anywhere. Everything happens inside the browser.
