About FocusGuard – Focus Mode & YouTube Study Filter

Stay on task without fighting your browser. Choose the sites that distract you, start a session, and they stay blocked until the timer ends. Pick 25, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, a custom length, or no time limit. Social media, streaming and music come as ready-made categories, and you can add any site yourself. LEARN ON YOUTUBE, SKIP THE RABBIT HOLES Switch YouTube to Clean mode instead of blocking it: • Shorts, the home feed and recommendations disappear, and the left menu is trimmed to Home • Only videos in categories you allow will play (by default Education, Science & Technology, and Howto & Style). Anything else is paused behind a friendly reminder with one-click "Allow this video" or "Always allow this channel". The filter reads the category each uploader chose. It's a simple metadata check, not AI, and the reminder always says why a video was paused. STRICT MODE Make a commitment: during a strict session there's no End button, and sites can't be unblocked until the timer finishes. An emergency override sits behind a deliberate "type a phrase, then hold" step. ALSO • Tabs already open on distracting pages are covered the moment you start • Matches a site and its subdomains, never look-alike domains • Keeps working with the popup closed, and resumes correctly after a browser restart • Today's and lifetime totals plus a 14-day chart, counted only from sessions you completed PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account, no servers, no analytics, no tracking. Settings and statistics stay in your browser and are never sent anywhere. Works inside Chrome only, so it can't stop desktop or phone apps. Strict Mode is a commitment device, not a lock: the extension can still be turned off from chrome://extensions. Open source: https://github.com/lakshaykundu/Focus-mode
