About Focus Diff
Big pull requests mix the code you own with tests, docs, lock files and generated files. Focus Diff adds a small bar to the Files changed page so you can review one part at a time.
Filter the diff
• Make filters from file patterns: Frontend, Backend, Tests, Docs, or anything your repository needs.
• Start from ready-made examples, then keep filters for every repository or only one.
• Pick a filter and the diff shows only its files. Files changed and the +/− lines count only what you review.
• Share your filters with your team: copy them in settings, and a teammate imports them in theirs.
• Works on large pull requests too, in the view GitHub optimizes for them.
See what’s left
• Files left to review, lines added and removed, and an estimate of the review time, for the filter you’re on.
• A breakdown of every filter side by side.
• A Done badge when a filter is fully reviewed.
Move faster
• Jump to the next file you haven’t viewed (Alt+Shift+J).
• Step through every conversation on the pull request without scrolling for it.
• Switch filters from the keyboard: Alt+Shift+. and Alt+Shift+, to cycle, Alt+Shift+0 for all files. You can change every shortcut in your browser’s shortcut settings.
Your pull requests at a glance
• The toolbar button lists what’s waiting for your review and your own open pull requests, each a click from its files, with about how long each takes to review. The ones you’re asked to review again come first, drafts fold away, and you can mark one done until something new happens on it. In settings, pick which repositories it lists.
• Review time: say how long you have, or set times on the days you pick, and Focus Diff plans the pull requests that fit, the ones you’re asked to review again first. Notifications can wait until then.
• Turn on notifications to hear about new review requests, drafts that become ready, comments, approvals and requested changes. Pick the repositories, and what to leave out: drafts, bots, or pull requests you’ve already approved.
Private by design
• No account and no tracking. Focus Diff reads the file paths and line counts already on the page, and talks to no one but GitHub itself, with the session already in your browser.
• Your filters and themes stay in your browser’s storage.
Works with the keyboard and screen readers, follows GitHub’s light and dark themes, and comes in English and Brazilian Portuguese. You can also make a theme of your own: pick the bar’s colours in settings with a live preview, and share it with your team.
