The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About FeedSanitizer – Escape the Feed Algorithm
FeedSanitizer puts you back in control of your social feeds on X, LinkedIn, and Facebook, without sending a single byte of your feed data anywhere.
The algorithm decides what you see by default. Every post you scroll past is either noise or worth your attention, and FeedSanitizer lets YOU decide which is which, using rules that run entirely on your device:
HIDE WHAT YOU DON'T WANT
• Keywords and phrases: plain text or regex (e.g. \$[A-Z]+ to catch stock tickers)
• Specific authors, accounts, or pages
• Built-in platform clutter: promoted and sponsored posts on all three sites, the X right sidebar, Facebook posts from pages you don't follow, and Facebook posts from groups you haven't joined
HIGHLIGHT WHAT YOU DO
• Focus Topics: posts matching subjects you care about are visually highlighted instead of hidden, so signal stands out from the scroll
RULES PER PLATFORM
Your X rules, LinkedIn rules, and Facebook rules are configured independently. A keyword or account you block on one platform has zero effect on the others.
PRIVACY BY CONSTRUCTION, NOT BY POLICY
FeedSanitizer does not have a server. There is no account, no sign-in, and no telemetry collecting what you filter or read. Every rule you write and every post it matches is evaluated locally, in your browser, using chrome.storage.local. Feed content never leaves your device: there's simply nowhere for it to go.
HOW IT WORKS
Click the FeedSanitizer icon to quickly edit rules for whichever supported platform your active tab is on, or open the full settings page for a dashboard with a tab per platform. One shared evaluation engine runs across all platforms, so behavior stays consistent no matter which feed you're on. A one-click pause switch in the popup drops you back to the raw, unfiltered feed at any time without clearing a single rule. Pause indefinitely, or pick 15 minutes, 1 hour, or until tomorrow and it resumes itself, no need to remember to turn it back on.
RECENT UPDATES
• Timed pause: snooze filtering for 15 minutes, 1 hour, or until tomorrow from the popup's pause menu, and it resumes automatically when the time is up
• One-click pause: a switch in the popup instantly drops you back to the raw, unfiltered feed on every supported site without clearing a single rule, and puts everything back the moment you switch it on again
• Search your keyword lists: typing in a Keywords, Authors, or Focus box now filters your existing entries in place, with the matched text highlighted and everything else dimmed, so a long list is easy to prune
• Smarter block vs. focus scoring: a post is no longer hidden just because it contains one block keyword. Matched focus and block keywords are weighed against each other, and both are highlighted right in the post text, so you can see exactly why a post was hidden or surfaced
• Import and Export your rules: back up your keyword, author, and focus lists to a JSON file, or move them to another computer, from the Settings page
FeedSanitizer is under active development. Current release covers local keyword/regex/author filtering and focus highlighting. See the project roadmap on our GitHub page for what's coming next.
