The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Fast Reader
Fast Reader is a lightweight speed-reading extension that shows text one word at a time, right where your eyes already are. By holding each word in a single fixed spot (a technique called RSVP — Rapid Serial Visual Presentation), it removes the eye movement and back-tracking that slow normal reading down, so you stay focused and get through more in less time.
Two ways to start:
• Select any text on any web page and click the quick-read button (optional — turn it on in settings)
• Or open the popup, paste your own text, and press Start
Everything happens in a clean, distraction-free fullscreen view.
🚀 Features
• Word-by-word RSVP reading in fullscreen
• Adjustable speed from 100 to 1000 words per minute
• The focal letter of each word is highlighted to anchor your eyes
• Optional context words — see the previous and next word
• Progress bar, word count, and estimated time remaining
• Dark, Light, and System themes
• Keyboard shortcuts: Space to play/pause, R to reset, Esc to close
• Works on any website
• No sign-up and no tracking — your text never leaves your browser
Great for students, researchers, and anyone who reads a lot online. Whether you are working through an article, reviewing notes, or catching up on long documents, Fast Reader helps you concentrate and read faster.
What's new in 3.1
• New setting: an opt-in quick-read button that appears when you select text (off by default)
• Refreshed, token-based design system with automatic light/dark theming
• In-popup settings — speed, theme, and context words, with no separate options page
• Cleaner, calmer reading interface
