The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.

About Explain AI - Explain anything in its context

Explain AI explains what you read, in the place you read it. Highlight a word, a phrase or a whole passage. A soft underline appears under it. Click it and a short explanation opens beside the text. Explain AI reads the sentences around your selection, so the answer fits the page you are on, not a dictionary. What it does - Short answers. A sentence or two for a term, a few lines for a passage. - Follow-ups. Ask a question under any answer and keep going. - Side panel. Keep explanations open next to the page instead of over it. - Explain an area. Click the toolbar button with nothing selected, or press Ctrl+Shift+E (Cmd+Shift+E on a Mac), then drag over a chart, a formula, an image or anything else on screen. - Any language. Choose the language answers are written in. - Your own prompt. Edit how answers are written in settings, or reset it to the default. - PDFs. Right-click a selection and choose "Explain": the answer uses the page you see. Or click the toolbar button (or press the shortcut) and drag over a part of the page. - Your own OpenRouter key (optional). Paste it in settings and explanations go straight from your browser to OpenRouter, on your account, with the model you pick. No sign-in and no daily limit. Free and Pro - Free: 20 explanations a day, follow-ups included. - Pro: unlimited. With Pro the answer starts as soon as you highlight, so it is usually there when you click. Privacy Nothing from the page is sent until you click the underline, use the menu or the shortcut, or pick an area. With Pro, "Start answers as you highlight" (on by default, one switch in settings) sends each selection when its underline appears, opened or not. What is sent: the text you selected and the text around it, or the area you picked with the page title and address. It is used to write the answer and is not stored. With your own OpenRouter key, it goes to OpenRouter and the model's provider instead, never to Explain AI. Full policy: https://xplnai.com/privacy Questions: team@xplnai.com
