The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About EqualWeb Accessibility Crawler
Find the accessibility issues on your whole website, the way EqualWeb checks it, without leaving your browser.
EqualWeb Accessibility Crawler visits your site's pages in your own browser and checks each one with EqualWeb's accessibility engine, the same engine behind EqualWeb Monitor. Because it browses as you, it can scan pages that online scanners can't reach: pages behind a login, staging and test sites, intranets and localhost.
WHAT IT CHECKS
• WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA, or Level AAA, or Section 508
• 150+ checks, from missing image text and form labels to ARIA, headings, landmarks and link purpose
• Real keyboard testing: it tabs through every page to find unreachable controls, keyboard traps, missing focus indicators and focus hidden behind sticky headers
• Hover and focus pop-ups, reflow at 320 pixels wide, text spacing, reduced motion and time limits
• Colour contrast measured on the rendered page, including text over images and the borders of buttons and fields
• Content from third parties (cookie banners, maps, chat widgets) is reported separately, so it doesn't hide your own issues
HOW IT CRAWLS
• Follows the links on your site and reads its sitemap, so pages nothing links to are found too
• Respects robots.txt, and never follows sign-out links
• Runs in hidden background tabs while you keep working, or in the current tab
• Desktop or mobile (phone-size) scans
• Schedule daily or weekly scans and see what changed since the last one
ACCESSIBILITY WIDGETS
Detects 13 accessibility overlays (EqualWeb, accessiBe, UserWay, AudioEye and more). Scan with the widget off, on, or compare both on the same pages to see what it fixes, leaves and introduces.
REPORTS
Every scan is summarised in the extension: the number of errors, the failing success criteria, the pages scanned, and what changed since your last scan. The full EqualWeb report adds every failing element with a screenshot and its code, step-by-step fixing guidance, an accessibility score, and Excel and PDF exports. Full reports are part of the EqualWeb Crawler plan.
PRIVACY
Scans run in your browser and are stored only in your browser. Nothing about the sites you scan is sent anywhere until you choose to open a full report on EqualWeb.
While a scan runs, Chrome shows a bar saying the extension "started debugging this browser". That is how the crawler presses Tab, moves the mouse, narrows the page and takes screenshots to test keyboard access, pop-ups, reflow and contrast. It is only used on the pages being scanned, and ends when the scan ends.
