About EnvHop — Environment Hopper
Local, dev, staging, production. Stop retyping URLs to open the same page on another environment — EnvHop does it in one click.
EnvHop switches between your registered domains (environments) while staying on the page you are viewing. The path, query string, and hash are kept; only the domain changes.
Example:
https://dev.example.com/users/42?tab=profile
↓ one click
https://stg.example.com/users/42?tab=profile
■ Features
- One-click switching
Click the toolbar icon to jump to the same page on another environment. With a single target it switches instantly; with several, pick one from the popup.
- Keyboard shortcuts
Alt+Shift+A to switch. Alt+Shift+L / D / S to go straight to local / dev / stg. (The shortcut to production works only if you assign it yourself.)
- Context menu
Open any registered environment in a new tab or a new window — handy for side-by-side comparison.
- Know where you are at a glance
The toolbar icon shows an LCL / DEV / STG / PROD badge. Colors are customizable per environment.
- Guard against production mistakes
Production pages show a red warning banner (top bar, corner label, or hidden). You can also require a confirmation dialog before navigating to production.
- Flexible URL matching
Exact, wildcard (*), and regular-expression patterns. Carry subdomains such as tenant names over to the target environment.
- Share settings with your team
Generate a share URL per project; teammates open it to import the same setup. JSON export / import is also supported.
■ How to use
1. Open the options page and click "+ Add project"
2. Enter the URL of each environment (e.g. http://localhost:3000 / dev.example.com / example.com)
* For http environments, type the URL starting with http:// (otherwise https:// is added automatically)
3. Open a registered site and click the toolbar icon
■ Who is it for
- Web developers and QA engineers who move between environments to verify changes
- Anyone who wants to avoid accidental actions on production
- Teams that want everyone to use the same environment URLs
■ Privacy
- Settings are stored only in Chrome storage (including Google account sync).
- No browsing history or settings are ever sent to external servers.
- The "tabs" permission is used only to check whether the current page's URL matches a registered environment.
